We’re so happy that you’ve chosen to stay in with us and we want to make this your Home away from Home!
This guide will help answer some basic questions but always feel free to contact us should you have a question or need anything. Again, WELCOME!
Parking: We do not have a private driveway therefore please utilize the free street parking located on our street and surrounding streets.
No Shoes House: In order to help keep our house clean, we ask that you remove your shoes at the door when entering.
WiFi: WiFi is Salty Mae, password is 933sewell
Trash: Trash pick-up is early Wednesday morning. If you are staying with us during that time, please place the totes at the curb Tuesday evening.
Trash totes are located on the side on the house near the garage. We have provided trash bags for you underneath the sink. Use them as needed. PLEASE do not place loose trash within the trash totes. If you would like to recycle, please place recyclables (loose, not in any plastic bags or bags) directly in the outside recycle bin/trash tote. Cape May only accepts glass, plastic, and cans - Pizza boxes will NOT be accepted.
Smart TVs (Living Rooms): The TVs in both living rooms are Smart TVs which will allow you to log in to any of your streaming TV service providers. Please follow the prompts once you turn the TV on. Remember to sign out of your apps before checking out. You may also select the free channels they offer to watch movies or TV shows. We do not have regular cable.
Candles: Candles are not permitted to be used in the house.
Outdoor Shower and Hose: Please use the outdoor shower (located behind the house) or hose, to rinse off sand before entering our home. This helps keep our home clean and sand out of the shower/tub drains. Please rinse sand off the beach chairs before returning them to the garage.
Dinning Room Table: Please remove the runner and shell decor from the dinning room table and use the table clothes we have provided. Find them in the buffet cabinet next to the table.
Wet Towels/Clothing: Please do not hang wet beach towels or clothing on the front railings/porch. We have provided drying racks in the laundry for your use. You can take them outside as well to help dry your clothing in the sun.
Noise Level, after hours: Please be respectful of our full-time neighbors and be sure to keep loud noise to a minimum after 10pm. Quiet time is 10:00PM - 7:00AM.
Use of BBQ: We hope you enjoy using the BBQ and ask that you make sure you have turned off the gas via the propane tank as well as the actual grill/knobs. After each use, please be courtesy and brush/scrap the grill top (with provided grill brush) for the next guest. Wipe down any excess grease.
Outdoor Gas Fire Pit: To start/light the outdoor fire pit, please locate the key and lighter hanging in the garage (as soon as you walk in, on your right). Insert key and turn slightly to the left (you should hear the gas starting to come out). Carefully use the lighter to light the flame. Control the flame by turning the key. Please be mindful of children around the fire pit. Please do not burn anything in the fire pit. When turning off the fire pit, simply turn the key all the way to the right. Return key and lighter to the garage.
Pot Filler: In order to use the pot filler, first place pot directly underneath the faucet. First turn the knob that is at the back of the wall (connected to the wall). Then turn the knob that is above the pot (other end of the filler faucet). Water will start to fill pot. Do not walk away while the pot is filling up. When ready, first turn off the knob above the pot, then the knob attached to the wall.
Queen Pull-Out Sofa Bed: Sheets, pillows and quilt for the pull out sofa bed can be found in the first bedroom closet, as you come down the hallway, on your left, First Floor.
Beach Tags and Beach Chairs: Beach tags are needed for Cape May beaches Memorial Day - Labor Day. Children under 12 are free. We provide you with 8 tags. They can be found in the white seashell container located on top of the dresser (First Floor, second bedroom, next to the bathroom). Please do not lose these tags. If the tags are misplaced, you will be charged $50 per tag.
Eight beach chairs, beach umbrella and beach cart can be found inside the garage. Please rinse off sand before returning them to the garage.
Bikes: We have provided 4 bicycles for your use. You can find these inside the garage. They have a HOMEBODY RENTALS sticker on them. We’ve also proved a lock; the code is 1933. Please be sure to lock them back up when in town. Place them in the garage after each use.
Personal Bikes/Bike Racks/Fishing Gear/etc: Please store/keep large items such as bikes, bike racks, fishing gear/fishing poles, etc, in the garage area.
No smoking or vaping: The Salty Mae is a smoke free home. No smoking or vaping. Thank you
Dirty Towels: we’ve provided a hampers in the master bedroom closets on each floor. You may place used towels in the harper.
Check Out: Check out is at 10:00 a.m. Our cleaners will arrive shortly after you’ve checked-out. Please remove all trash. Place dirty towels in hampers. Make sure the kitchen items (plates/pots/pans/etc) have been cleaned and put away.
